وتشهد له كل أهل قريته بوسامته، وأخلاقه وشجاعته، فكان حلم لكل أم فلسطينية داخل القرية أن تزوجه إبنتها، فذهبت زوجة المختار، وزوجة إمام الجامع إلى محل النجارة بغرض تفصيل خزانة للملابس، وصندوق خشب حتى تلفت كل منهما نظره لابنتها فيتزوجها.

 لكنه لم يلتفت الي هذا كله، كان حب فلسطين محفور في قلبه جعله لا يهتم بكل أمور الحياة او حتى إلى بنات القرية.

 حتى إمام الجامع جعله موضوع. ومحور من محاور خطبة الجمعة فذكره على سبيل التلميح.

في إحدى الأيام هاجمت العصابات الصهيونية القرية، ونشبت معركة، واستشهد على إثرها ثلاثة شبان من القرية، وغادر ظريف الطول القرية لمدة أربعة أيام ثم عاد في الليلة الأخيرة دون أن يراه أحد يحمل معه خمس بنادق.
