” المسجد الأقصى” أهم معالم مدينة القدس:

أقدس الأماكن في الإسلام، وهو المسجد الذي أسري بالنبي محمد عليه الصلاة والسلام إليه، والقصة وردت في القرآن، إذ قال الله تعالى في بداية سورة الإسراء “سبحان الذي أسرى بعبده ليلا من المسجد الحرام إلى المسجد الأقصى الذي باركنا حوله”. وهو أولى القبلتين، وثالث المساجد التي تشد إليه الرحال بعد المسجد الحرام بمكة، والمسجد النبوي بالمدينة المنورة، وبني المسجد الأقصى قبل الميلاد بأكثر من ألفي سنة، فهو ثاني مسجد، وضع في الأرض.

يقع المسجد الأقصى في فلسطين تحديداً في مدينة القدس بالبلدة القديمة، وتصل مساحته إلى 144,000 متر مربع، يشتمل على العديد من المعالم، التي يصل عددها إلى مئتي معلم. كما ظل المسجد الأقصى على مدى قرون طويلة مركزا مهما لتدريس العلوم، ومعارف الحضارة الإسلامية. ومركزاً للاحتفالات الدينية الكبرى، ومكانا لإعلان المراسيم السلطانية وتعيين كبار الموظفين .

 حيث تشتهر المدن الفلسطينية، وعلى وجه الخصوص مدينة القدس الشريف، بطبق شعبي وهو “المقلوبة”، وهي عبارة عن طبخ اللحم أو الدجاج مع الأرز، مع إضافة العديد من الخضروات، أبرزها، الباذنجان، والبطاطس، والقرنبيط، وبعد نضوجها، يقلب قدر الطهي داخل وعاء مسطح الشكل “سدر”. وتصبح “المقلوبة” جاهزة للتقديم ساخنة. فيصطحبها المقدسين في باحات المسجد الأقصى، وسط الهتافات. والأغاني الثورية الفلسطينية. ويقلبها على مرأى الاحتلال الاسرائيلي الذي حاول ويحاول صد الفلسطينين. ومنعهم من هذه الأجواء.
